University of Washington

I love to teach.

Time and time again my students restore in me the most important ingredient to art-making: desire. The imaginative vigor that radiates from a student hungry to learn reignites my curiosity and joy in the making of a thing. I bring a brisk pace and high expectations to my classes, preparing each student to leave my class with an insatiable curiosity and a disciplined love for the work. At every level, I invite my students to engage in a spirit of play and to ignite their imaginations through storytelling.

As an Adjunct Professor and Guest Lecturer at the University of Washington I have taught:

- Drama 552 Teaching of Acting

- Drama 351 Intermediate Acting-Scene Study

- Drama 252 Acting

- Drama 251 Introduction to Acting

Foundations of Acting,

The Studio Seattle, Fall 2022

Sadly the Studio Seattle has closed its doors, but I so enjoyed teaching several sections of Foundations of Acting (2022-2023) for the Studio Seattle founded by Andrew Tsao.

  • At the Studio Seattle I used Uta Hagen exercises and etudes to teach adults how to approach the craft of Acting and begin to learn how to ignite the imagination and replicate human behavior with authenticity long before the actor ever meets a script. I LOVE teaching these beginning courses because it forces me to continue asking “What is Acting?” and in my attempt to find new ways in, I am constantly revising my working definition. Truly exciting research.

Pegasus Playhouse, 2021

Pegasus Playhouse

Here you see me adapting to online learning in my teaching artist position at Pegasus Playhouse (2020-2022) where I taught “Break Outside the Box” classes for teens and for ages 7-10. In these studios I used games, costumes, warmups and storytelling exercises to help encourage students to engage the whole body and explore a wide range of physical and vocal expression without succumbing to the urge to mute or dilute or shrink in order to fit into the little Zoom box.
